In 1944 Marilyn worked at Radio Plane. She started varnishing plane fuselages and then switched to checking and folding parachutes. She was paid $20 a week. She also worked at a film developing lab that year. She quit her job at Radio Plane when she was signed to the Blue Book Model Agency in 1945. She took any modeling job she could get to make money.
